Press Release: Futurehome launches EV charger

Making Nordic households even more energy-smart:

The Norwegian energy management company Futurehome is launching Futurehome Charge, a user-friendly home charger with automated and smart power-saving features.

Futurehome has a market-leading position in Norway, with 50.000 Norwegian users of the company’s smart home products and solutions for smart energy management.

– We are proud to be able to offer a future-oriented charger with intelligent functions for energy saving, safety features you can count on, and which is extremely easy to use in the Futurehome App. EV chargers are a natural progression for Futurehome, and this launch is a major milestone in our history. This will be a full circle for our ecosystem, says Erik Stokkeland, Futurehome CEO.

The charger has been given the name Futurehome Charge, previously known as ELVA. Due to trademark objections from other companies in Europe operating in similar business areas the ev charger had to change to a more generic and descriptive product name.

Futurehome Charge has up to 22 kW power output, one and three-phase charging, load & phase balancing, Bluetooth for configuration, as well as Wi-Fi and ZigBee connectivity for smart management.

By connecting the charger to Futurehome’s ecosystem for smart energy management via Strømkontroll, the user can also achieve dynamic load and phase-balancing for the rest of the home. This means that the system monitors electricity consumption in the household, and automatically regulates the charging speed to avoid overload. Spot pricing algorithms ensure that the vehicle charges when the prices are lowest.

The charger has been developed in close cooperation with electricians and offers a smooth and simple installation process.

Futurehome Charge supports the industry standard OCPP 1.6, so that the charger can be connected directly to many electrical vehicle charging service providers. The charger will be one of the safest on the market and is undergoing certification and testing with a market-leading international testing company. The charger has been developed for the Nordic climate and has a number of safety mechanisms, and has been designed in accordance with applicable market standards.

– Electric vehicle charging accounts for a significant portion of the energy consumption in an increasing number of homes. For those of us who have made it our mission to make Norwegian homes more energy-smart and contribute to a more energy efficient society, it is natural to complement the product range with a smart and future-oriented charger, says Stokkeland.

Users can choose between a black and white version. If the EV charger is combined with Strømkontroll the consumer can also apply for an Enova grant, which covers 35% of equipment and installation costs.
